Stinger-Based Launch & Recovery System (LARS)
The Stinger-Based Launch & Recovery System (LARS) is a custom-engineered handling solution developed specifically as part of L&T’s Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) offering. Designed to operate seamlessly with L&T AUV platforms, the system enables safe, efficient launch and recovery of medium to heavy-class AUVs from ships, piers, or floating docks.
This compact, over-the-side deployment system features a linear traversing telescopic stinger, extending from the host platform to guide the AUV during launch and recovery. The design minimizes hull contact and protects both the vehicle and the host structure. Fully integrated with a winch system, handling cradle, and capture mechanism, the LARS ensures precise lowering and retrieval of L&T-supplied AUVs across varying sea states—enhancing operational safety, reliability, and mission readiness.
